GMS launches into summer with some phenomenal end of year projects. Students launch rockets in Sci Tech, test distance and angle in science, design Chalk Squares in ELA based on a setting from a childhood book, and more. Make it a great final week of 2022-23, and have an amazing summer!
Congratulations to our newest teammate at GMS, Lucy, who received a Maple Leaf Medallion this week. Lucy is an Australian Shepherd therapy dog whose handler is our 7th grade Art teacher, Mr. Hamilton. Lucy is already making an impact on creativity and social-emotional learning in the classroom, and she will be at GMS every day next year.
Many of our classrooms are celebrating the "ABC" countdown to the last day of school. 2nd grade celebrated "Wilderness" Day for "W" with camping themed activities today!

GHS held a "Meet and Greet" breakfast for our students who will be taking our new Introduction to Teaching course next year! Students got to meet their mentor teacher over cinnamon rolls and juice! These students will be in the mentor teachers classroom two days a week starting in the fall! Super excited for this new program!

6th grade Science classes launched their catapults today in a great engineering and design lesson. Students worked across history, math and science courses to design their own catapults, test them for accuracy and distance, and launch them on a beautiful May Day. Thanks to all the parents, friends and grandparents who helped our kids create these amazing contraptions.
Geneseo Middle School Track and Field brought home more than a dozen medals from IESA State this weekend. Congratulations to all our medal winners, and to the 8th grade boys team for placing 4th in State!

40 GMS Track and Field Athletes are heading to IESA State in East Peoria this Friday and Saturday. They represent our 7th and 8th grades, both boys and girls, and they are pumped to go up against the state's best middle school athletes. Today, GMS honored our state competitors with a Walk of Champions to send them on their way. Go Leafs!

This past week we learned that students who take CNC 1 and CNC 2 can receive up to 17 hours of dual credit from Black Hawk College! Students will also receive their "Operators License"!
Geneseo High School’s Class of 2023 will graduate on Sunday, May 21 at 3 p.m. in a ceremony on Bob Reade Field following a parade that will begin at 1 p.m.

Kindergarten students took a quick trip to Hawaii recently. The day included an in-flight movie, a luau, and all kinds of fun activities. Thanks to our tremendous Kindergarten teachers and all our parent volunteers for planning a memorable day for our students.
Congratulations to Mrs. Rickman on her Maple Leaf Medallion. We will definitely miss her next year. She has been working with students since 89 and does a fantastic job preparing students for 5th grade. Thank you for all the hard work and love you have poured into your students.
