Physical Science classes completed some time and distance tests, "speed trap," out near Ogden Avenue today. Students collected data on time and distance from cars traveling down the road. Tomorrow, they are calculating speed and combining data across classes in order to find trends.

6th grade Science classes launched their catapults today in a great engineering and design lesson. Students worked across history, math and science courses to design their own catapults, test them for accuracy and distance, and launch them on a beautiful May Day. Thanks to all the parents, friends and grandparents who helped our kids create these amazing contraptions.

A phenomenal debate took place in 7th grade ELA classes this week, where Mrs. Haars' and Mrs. Schmidt's classes combined to engage in Socratic Seminars on 4 different historical disasters. Students researched a historical disaster like Titanic, then used evidence to prepare and defend an argument for causes, who's at fault, and avoiding a disaster. Students then assessed themselves and their peers on meeting a variety of standards-based learning targets in reading, writing and speaking and listening.
