Millikin 5th graders did a great job writing persuasive essays about the importance and purpose of different charities and raised money to go toward the winning essays. We are proud of all our students and staff for making a positive impact on others!

In their first week of 7th grade Art, students in Mr. Hamilton’s classes explore modules to see if they can beat the challenge with the resources available. Can they build a structure that all in the group can stand up in?

Very proud of our two Elks Teen of the Month winners. Addison Smith and Eric Vergane were chosen by our GHS staff for their outstanding contributions in the classroom and community.

GMS welcomed back 650 amazing 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and teachers to the start an exciting 2023 with an all school assembly this morning. We sang our fight song, recognized LEAFS and Grit Award winners from Semester 1, reset expectations for academics, sportsmanship, and behavior, and walked away with new energy after a great winter break. #FocusOnWhat’sRight for Semester 2!

Geneseo Middle School hosts our annual Junior Level Wrestling Tournament at the GHS Gym today. 12 teams, 200 wrestlers, and about 1000 spectators supported some incredible wrestling matches. From 65 pounders up to heavy weights, it’s been a phenomenal day!

Happy New Year! As we begin 2023, we wish for peace, love and laughter each and every day.

He's a long way from his native Spain, but Geneseo Middle School's Javier Reyes feels right at home in Geneseo.
“I think it’s great that students can experience different perspectives and learn about different cultures,” he says.

Merry Christmas to you and your family, and very best wishes for the New Year.

5th grade students read "Pay It Forward" by Catherine Ryan Hyde and decided to have a Penny War between classes to raise money for a charity. Each student researched and selected a charity to write a persuasive essay trying to convince their classmates their charity should be selected for the donation. The students raised $942.91! The charities selected were the American Cancer Society and the Iowa City Children's Hospital. The winning essays were from Lily Putnam, Sean Hayes, Adler VanOpdorp, Sofie Diebold and Brooke Herington. Congrats!!

Due to the current wintery mix of precipitation, freezing winds, and updated timeline from the National Weather Service this morning, Geneseo CUSD 228 will not be in session today. Have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The Geneseo High School Concert Hall has been busy this week. All three elementary schools have their Christmas Programs this week. Here are some pictures of the Southwest 4th and 5th graders performing last night!

In anticipation of a significant winter storm and in light of the National Weather Service’s weather advisory, we will be releasing students at 1 pm (1:10 pm for GMS) on Thursday afternoon, December 22.
All after-school activities and athletic practices for Thursday afternoon and evening are canceled. Additionally, there will be no afternoon preschool or SAFE on Thursday.
Any further announcements will be communicated to parents via school messenger and shared on GeneseoSchools.org, social media (Facebook and Twitter), and the usual news affiliates.
Thank you and best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday break!

"Wrestling is a sport that’s for everyone," says Carley Rusk, head coach of the high school's new girls wrestling club.
“It doesn’t matter how athletic, fast or strong you are, there’s a spot for you," adds Rusk. "It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time on the mat or you’ve been on it for five years. We welcome everyone and encourage them to try something new. We want to help you, empower you, and ensure you have fun along the way.”
