We offer our congratulations and thanks to Bill Lanphere, a staple at Fareway since Geneseo's store opened in 2005. Bill will be transferring to the Fareway in North Liberty, and this week, Dr. Adam Brumbaugh awarded him with a Maple Leaf Medallion for demonstrating Teach–Learn–Care of the highest order. Throughout Bill's many years of service, he has generously supported and touched the lives of many students and their families. "Bill has done so much for the community and the students of the Geneseo school district, giving them the chance to learn basic job skills," wrote Fareway colleague Chris Bishop in nominating Lanphere. Good luck, Bill, you will be missed!

Please join us in welcoming Laurel Filzen Etzel, our new music teacher at Northside Elementary. Filzen Etzel earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Western Illinois University, a master’s degree in music from Western Michigan University, and is currently working towards another master’s in teaching and music at WIU. She has taught all ages from toddler through college in many different settings and has over 10 years of experience teaching. “I enjoy meeting students where they are to make a meaningful connection with them, which brings me and the student joy!” says Filzen Etzel. “This connection, in turn, builds trust and helps us to grow and learn together. I believe in building students up and helping each of my students to be confident individuals when they are making music, of course, but also when they are not making music—leading each one to be the most authentic version of themselves!”
