It's been an active and exciting first week at GMS. Our students are really enjoying their GMS lunch, jumping into intro labs in FACS and Sci Tech, taking part in scavenger hunts for library orientation, and taking tours of their newly remodeled school. During these super hot days, our athletes are even doing some indoor team building to stay active yet cool.

It was a fantastic first week of school at Northside Elementary School. Students had a great time meeting their teachers, seeing their friends again, and of course trying out the new playground equipment and gaga ball pit. Special thanks to everyone who made those happen!!!

We are elated to introduce Jackie Peters, our new special education resource at Geneseo Middle School. A Geneseo native, Peters attended Southern Illinois University and earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology. After being a stay-at-home mom for quite a few years, she worked as a reading aide at Northside Elementary. She then graduated from Western Governors University with a degree in special education and elementary education and taught cross-categorical special education at GMS. “I will continue teaching special education at GMS in a different role, with a focus on team teaching and student academic support,” Peters explains. “My philosophy of teaching is to demonstrate kindness, respect, and patience, and to encourage students to work hard and be good citizens.”
