Kane Causemaker was reelected, while Casey Disterhoft, Tyler Robertson and Kelly Storm were newly elected to join Geneseo’s Board of Education following Tuesday’s consolidated election.
According to results on the Henry County website (see below), Disterhoft led the way with 1,390 votes (33%), Causemaker tallied 1,360 votes (32%) and Robertson received 1,243 votes (30%). Storm was the only eligible write-in candidate, thus she claims the fourth spot.
Each member will receive a four-year team.
“I’d like to congratulate Kane on his reelection, and Casey, Tyler and Kelly on being newly elected to our Board of Education,” said Superintendent Dr. Adam Brumbaugh. “Serving on our board is one of the most impactful ways to shape the future of our students and community. It's a thankless job, yet a rewarding responsibility that requires dedication, collaboration, vision, and an ongoing, unwavering commitment to our students.”
“It’s an honor and a privilege to serve Geneseo’s school district for another four years, and our board is thrilled to welcome Casey, Tyler and Kelly,” said Kane Causemaker, Vice President of the Board of Education. “We’re very fortunate to live in a community that cares deeply about our schools, and we will continue working together to ensure each of our students receives the education they deserve.”
The Board of Education’s regular meeting on April 10 will be conducted by its sitting board. The seating of new members and reorganization of the board, including officer roles, will then take place at its next regular meeting on May 8.
Outgoing board members are the current board president, Barry Snodgrass, as well as Jackie Mickley and Karen Urick. None of the three ran for reelection.
“On behalf of our school district, I want to thank Barry, Jackie and Karen for their service,” said Dr. Brumbaugh. “They each brought a unique set of experiences, skills and perspectives to the table, and advocated for what they felt was best for our students, staff and district.”
Dr. Brumbaugh continued, “From a personal standpoint, I will especially miss working with Barry, who always brought a combination of wisdom and wit to our meetings. He leaves with a remarkable 27 years of school board experience, and our district benefited greatly from his presence and many contributions.”
“On behalf of our Board of Education, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Barry, Jackie and Karen,” said Causemaker. “For years, you dedicated yourselves to improving the educational experience we offer our students and making a positive impact on what takes place throughout our schools. We thank you for your service and invaluable contributions to our community and its future.”
