Geneseo teachers earn National Board Certification and Recertification

Seven Geneseo Community Unit School District #228 teachers were recognized earlier this month for receiving National Board Certification, the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education.

Geneseo’s most recent National Board Certification recipients (pictured above) include Sawyer Rahmus (GHS Math), Lauren Schmidt (GMS English), Jessi Haars (GMS English), Paige Panicucci (Southwest 4th Grade), Ashley Minnaert (Southwest 4th Grade), Skyler Schneider (Southwest Kindergarten) and Cassandra Smith (Southwest 5th Grade).

Additionally, three other Geneseo educators, Teri Mincks (Southwest Instructional Coach), Tasha Moe (Southwest Special Education) and Taunya McGee (Southwest Reading Specialist; not pictured), earned their National Board Recertification.

“On behalf of our entire district, I want to congratulate all of our incredible teachers who have achieved National Board Certification and Recertification,” said Superintendent Dr. Adam Brumbaugh. “Your dedication, expertise, and commitment to excellence in education are truly inspiring. These prestigious accomplishments not only elevate your professional capabilities but also enrich the lives of the students you serve every day.”

According to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, National Board Certification provides numerous benefits to teachers, students and schools. It was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide.

Also honored was Andrea Hogue, a Henry-Stark Counties Special Education District life skills teacher at Geneseo Middle School. Hogue received a Golden Apple award in recognition of her 25 years of service (pictured below with Cassie Hanson, Special Education Coordinator for the Henry-Stark Counties Special Education District, and GMS Principal Nathan O’Dell).

Please join us in congratulating these remarkable teachers—you’re making a huge impact in Geneseo’s schools and we’re so proud of you!
