Northside students recognized at BOE's March meeting

Four Northside Elementary students were recognized at the Board of Education’s meeting on Thursday for consistently demonstrating kindness, respect, and responsibility within the school’s community.

Principal Joe Mowen was on hand to introduce Breckyn Granell, Ryker McAvoy, Leo Turigliatti and Tommie Bess (pictured above from left to right), and he spoke about the impact they have on their classmates.

“Breckyn, Ryker, Leo and Tommie lead by example,” said Principal Mowen. “They show empathy toward others, make positive choices, and contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment. Their dedication to helping peers, following school values, and showing integrity makes them a role model for others.”

Superintendent Dr. Adam Brumbaugh awarded each of the students with a Maple Leaf Medallion, the district’s highest honor.

“As Mr. Mowen mentioned, these students have such high character and they truly care about their classmates,” said Dr. Brumbaugh. “That warms my heart, and I’m happy to present each of them with a Maple Leaf Medallion for demonstrating Teach-Learn-Care to the highest order.”
