GMS students recognized for their service to others

Geneseo Middle School Principal Nathan O’Dell recognized 11 students for their volunteer work during the Board of Education meeting on Thursday night.

The 8th grade students included Kyle Everett, Elly George, Peyton Brodie, Paisley Arnold, Landon French, Mia O'Dell, Lucy Walck, Reese Schaaf, Ellie Jackson, Hannah Billingsly and Leila Bries.

“These young leaders volunteer to serve in a variety of ways at GMS, including library aid, Birthday Club (decorating lockers for students and doors for staff), Builders Club, and more,” noted Principal O’Dell. “This November, GMS is "Thankful," and we honor those who serve others above self.”

O’Dell added, “One of the things not recognized enough is when students do what they are supposed to do. I’ve known this group for a long time and they are doing so much to make our school, our district and our community better. I’m so proud of this 8th grade class. It’s an incredible group of kids.”

Superintendent Dr. Adam Brumbaugh applauded the students for their leadership and selflessness, and awarded each of them with a Maple Leaf Medallion.

Congratulations to these fine young students!
