Geneseo Community Unit School District #228’s Board of Education appointed Jackie Mickley as its newest member during a special meeting on Monday night.
“We’re very happy to welcome Jackie to the board and know that she will be a valuable contributor,” stated Barry Snodgrass, President of the Board of Education. “Jackie is a compassionate and thoughtful individual who works well with others and keeps an open mind. She will be a wonderful addition to our board.”
Mickley returns after previously serving 12 years on Geneseo’s Board of Education–from 2003 to 2015–including stints as vice president and secretary. During that time, she was also the Blackhawk Division Director for the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB), and spent five years as Geneseo school district’s representative on the Henry-Stark Special Education Executive Board.
Mickley’s term will end in April of 2025, at which time an election will be held for it and the other expiring terms.
Regular meetings for Geneseo’s seven-person Board of Education–which are open to the public–are held on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
