GMS Cheer Clinic: Registration deadline extended to Feb. 22
Current 8th grade students interested in GHS cheer during the 2025-26 school year are invited to a cheer clinic on Saturday, February 22 at the GHS main gym from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn the basics for GHS cheer tryouts with our own GHS cheerleaders!
Please wear athletic clothing/gym shoes (hair back and no jewelry) and bring a water bottle. Tryout dates will be announced at a later date. There is no cost to attend! Register now!
7th and 8th Grade Track and Field
Track and Field season for 7th and 8th grade boys and girls is starting soon! If you are interested in joining, read through the letter Coach Ehlert recently emailed to students and parents, then fill out the Google Form to sign up for the team and receive information on the season. Practices will begin Monday, March 3. If you have any questions, ask any of the coaches: Mr. Ehlert, Mrs. Gillespie, Mr. Monier, Mrs. Wagner, Mr. Mathew, Mrs. Henderson or Mr. Babcock.
Preschool Screening for the 2025-26 School Year
Ladders to Learning Preschool will be holding preschool screening dates for the 2025-26 school year on Monday, March 10, Tuesday March 11 and Wednesday March 12 at First Congregational Church (319 South State Street, Geneseo, IL 61254).
Appointment scheduling begins Wednesday, February 19. To make an appointment, please contact Angela Krause, Preschool Parent Coordinator, at (309) 945-0614.
Blood Drive at GHS on Feb. 27
Sign up to save a life, or better yet, save three! Did you know that each blood donation saves three lives? Geneseo High School's annual blood drive will be held on Thursday, February 27 in the main gym.
Community members are invited to participate by scanning the above QR code or clicking here to schedule an appointment. Students wishing to sign-up can see any Student Council member or refer to the flyers hanging around GHS. Donors are asked to sign-up in advance and choose their own appointment time. You must be over 16 years old to donate, in addition, 16-year-olds are required to have a signed parent consent form from Impact Life. For further information, see Mrs. Laingen or Mrs. Brewer.
Distinguished Alumni - Class of 2025 Induction Ceremony
Ten new honorees will be introduced as members of the Distinguished Alumni Class of 2025 on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at the Geneseo High School DePauw Theater.
Speakers will include several of the 2025 Class and you will be amazed at the accomplishments of so many incredible Geneseo High School graduates!

Middle School Swim Team
Join the Geneseo Park District's new Geneseo Middle School Swim Team (6th through 8th grade students) and compete against local schools! No experience required. This program is coached by an IHSA and USA Swimming Certified Coach. Learn more and register.

GHS Football for 2025-26 Freshmen
Current 8th graders interested in playing football for the high school in Fall of 2025 should follow the above QR code and complete the linked Google Form. The contact information entered will be used to communicate information about summer camps, summer lifting, and other information related to the football program. Note: You must use your @geneseoschools.org email address to complete this form.
Dance Marathon 4
Geneseo High School is once again hosting Dance Marathon to raise money for Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City. Students interested in signing up to be a dancer can register now for your donor drive account to start raising money. Students must raise $25 to be able to attend the big event on March 8 (6-10 p.m.). If you raise your money by February 21, you will be guaranteed a free t-shirt for the event!

FFA Alumni Trivia Night
The Geneseo FFA Alumni Trivia Night will be held on Saturday, February 22 at St. Malachy's Hall with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and trivia starting at 6:00 p.m. Tables can be reserved for $100 (10 maximum participants per table) by contacting any of the individuals listed above.
Middle School Winter Summit (Jan. 6-Feb. 26)
Want to see improvement in first step quickness, jumping ability, strength, agility, explosive power, and conditioning? The 2025 Winter Summit for middle school boys, offered by the Hammond-Henry Rehab Department, will begin Jan. 6 and continue through Feb. 26. The cost is $104 for the full 16 sessions. Learn more.
18th annual Seth Ernst Memorial Soccer Slam
The Seth Ernst Memorial Soccer Slam is an annual, indoor soccer tournament. The tournament committee intends to grow and enhance the soccer experience – the “Love of the Game” – for players and fans at all levels. Register your child for free books!
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge monthly to children from birth to age five through funding shared by Dolly Parton and local community partners.
Enroll your child by visiting the front desk at the Geneseo Public Library, located at 805 North Chicago Street. Signing up can only be done in person. Your child must be under the age of 5 and you must reside in Henry County.
8th grade trip to Washington, D.C.
