6th grade ELA students visited Mrs. Herlyn's and Mrs. Britt's "Book Tasting Cafe" today, previewing 3 graphic novels and helping to select their class read. What a way to make reading engaging and fun!






The Class of 2026 will be selling football t-shirts for $15 each at the Green Machine’s season opener on Friday, August 30. Stop by the sales table near the concession stand from 6:30 to 8:00 to get yours!


GMS Girls Volleyball kicked off their fall season against Colona in the Geneseo Machine Shed tonight. The 7th girls lost in a couple hard fought games but the 8th girls won big. Great job girls!

GMS Golfers had a great round out at the Geneseo Country Club this evening. They took on Putnam County in what turned out to be a fantastic evening with GMS winning the match. "We Are... GMS!"

"We are... GMS!" We rolled out a ton of spirit and energy at GMS today in the first day of our 2024-25 school year. Welcome to the classes of 2029, 2030, and 2031, it's gonna be a great year!









Join us in welcoming Shay Moorman, who is Geneseo Middle School’s new art teacher. "Giving students the tools and knowledge they need to create art and experiment in a way that reflects themselves inspires me to keep teaching," says Shay. "I hope I can continue equipping students with what they need and create an environment in my classroom that makes them feel safe to explore, make mistakes, and grow as artists and people."


The 2024-25 school year kicked off with an amazing turnout for Open House tonight across all our schools. We owe a huge thanks to our custodial and maintenance teams, as well as our secretaries, tech team, and all our educators for making this first event of 24-25 a big success. We'll see everyone Wednesday morning!





We are excited to introduce Phil Casarotto, our new cross-categorical teacher at Geneseo Middle School. "I love working with children who have special needs and am looking forward to getting to know each and every one of my students and their families," states Phil. "My number one goal is to give my students everything they need to grow, develop and be successful not only this school year, but going forward in their lives."

We are happy to introduce Nora Minnaert, who will be teaching science at Geneseo Middle School. "I'm so excited to return to the school where I did my student teaching, and to be more involved in my community through this new position," Nora says. "I love life science and I'm looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm for nature with the students in my classroom!"


Geneseo's fall sports season kicked off on Wednesday with the GMS Lady Leafs taking on Mercer County in softball. Thirty girls are on the team this year, and they opened the season with a huge 15-0 win in 3 innings. Great job, girls!





We are happy to welcome Kim VanDeWoestyne, our new physical education teacher at Geneseo Middle School. "What I enjoy most about teaching is getting to know my students and watching them grow into young adults," says Kim. "I am excited to build connections with my students and support them through the ups and downs of middle school!"
