
Along with Geneseo Police Department and its IMPACT team, GHS will welcome Bridgeway, The Gray Matters Collective, Hammond-Henry Hospital and NAMI for a mental health awareness and safety academy on Wednesday, February 8 from 6-8 p.m. at the high school’s Fine Arts Center.

GMS Girls Basketball took on Jordan Catholic in the Machine Shed tonight. We split the win with 7th taking a victory and 8th losing a close fought battle.




It’s an exciting day at GMS for 8th graders. They are meeting with GHS Counselors to begin Freshman Course Scheduling, and learn about what it means to be a high school student. It’s right around the corner 8th graders, get ready!
Freshman Course Scheduling selections are due February 8th to the GMS Counseling Office.





Geneseo Middle School Girls Basketball took on Edison tonight in a Machine Shed shootout. 7th girls won a solid victory and 8th girls lost a close fought battle. Great job girls!





6th grade ELA students research US National Parks as they prepare a written itinerary to explore our nation’s wonders.



Mr. Morey’s 3rd your math class won the school-wide Motivational Math contest for Nov-Dec, enjoying a class pizza party today. They had the highest number of MAP Accelerator Math minutes and are showing incredible growth in their skills.





8th grade science students simulated Rutherford’s Gold Foil Experiment today, working to understand size and density of a nucleus compared to an atom.




8th grade students at GMS met with Mr. Mackey, GHS Vocational Director, today to learn about our Geneseo Alumni Career Connections Program. This program is on the Geneseo Schools website under Community Resources. Middle Schoolers are starting to take their first steps in the path of college and career readiness, with the goal of exploration and making connections.



In their first week of 7th grade Art, students in Mr. Hamilton’s classes explore modules to see if they can beat the challenge with the resources available. Can they build a structure that all in the group can stand up in?




As we welcome back students in anticipation of a great 2023, we want to remind our families of some important dates on our calendar in January. There will be a 1-hour early release this Friday, January 13. Also, there is no school on Monday, January 16 or Friday, January 27.

GMS welcomed back 650 amazing 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and teachers to the start an exciting 2023 with an all school assembly this morning. We sang our fight song, recognized LEAFS and Grit Award winners from Semester 1, reset expectations for academics, sportsmanship, and behavior, and walked away with new energy after a great winter break. #FocusOnWhat’sRight for Semester 2!




Geneseo Middle School hosts our annual Junior Level Wrestling Tournament at the GHS Gym today. 12 teams, 200 wrestlers, and about 1000 spectators supported some incredible wrestling matches. From 65 pounders up to heavy weights, it’s been a phenomenal day!

What an awesome and talented group of Peer Tutors we have at GMS, serving their classmates and their school. Here are some of the Tutors at their holiday appreciation party today.


In anticipation of a significant winter storm and in light of the National Weather Service’s weather advisory, we will be releasing students at 1 pm (1:10 pm for GMS) on Thursday afternoon, December 22.
All after-school activities and athletic practices for Thursday afternoon and evening are canceled. Additionally, there will be no afternoon preschool or SAFE on Thursday.
Any further announcements will be communicated to parents via school messenger and shared on GeneseoSchools.org, social media (Facebook and Twitter), and the usual news affiliates.

Jazz Band lights up the morning with a rehearsal in the GMS Cafe. Staff and students got to eat breakfast and drink coffee while listening to some amazing Jazz!
