Last night the GMS Wrestling team traveled to Washington. Washington would get off to a quick start and put the leafs in a 18-0 hole. The leafs would fight back with Maddux Kennedy, Kennyrk Osborn, Tad Moore, Emmett Hill, Jack Snook, and Ben Simosky all getting falls. The leafs would bring the score to 30 to 38 before Washington pulled away and won the meet 62-36. Good luck to the wrestling team as the next competition will be the Mason Hada invite on December 28th.
Attention Hoops Fans: Well, with the holiday season near, you can put a bow on our boys season. It came to an end last night here at home versus the Glenview Gators. Our boys should take a bow for the valiant effort. In 7A action, our Leafs previously lost to Glenview 11 to 50. For those non-mathematicians out there, that was a deficit of 39 points. Last night, our Leafs jumped out to an early lead and played tough, starting the 4th quarter with a one point lead. Eventually we fell 29-35. That is a sign of great growth from the beginning of the year to the end. In 8A action, wow, our 8th grade Leafs wanted to go out in their final GMS game with a bang! Our 8s lost by double digits last time they played Glenview but our Leafs put it on them, winning with a 30+ point lead and a running clock. You could've called our 8As the "Green Machine" last night because everything was clicking and we were firing on all cylinders. Great end to the season boys. To the players and managers, reminder, this Friday morning in the Large Group Room is our end of year breakfast celebration. Be sure to bring any practice jerseys or uniforms you have not turned in yet. Thank you.
Attention NFL Pick Em: We had another perfect week, the second of the year. Congrats to the team of Zach Werthman, Max Freeman, and Owen on your perfection to win Week 15. They further distance themselves in the overall standings as well. We have a big week here. With us going on break for the next three weeks, there are THREE weeks of picks to fill out. The blue sheet is due by the end of the day Thursday. The white and yellow sheets are due by the end of the day Friday BEFORE you leave for break. Those will be the final weeks of the year. When the playoffs start, we will reset the standings. Good luck to all!
Attention 6th, and 7th grade boys. Hammond-Henry Hospital is excited to be providing Geneseo Middle School student/athletes with winter speed, agility, strength and conditioning programs. The Winter Summit sessions will begin Monday, January 6th. Information for the Winter Summit can be found at the Geneseo Park District website.
Attention band students: Everyone needs to take their instrument and band binder home today after school. Instruments cannot be left on the shelves over break.
