Attention GMS: This Saturday, December 7th, the 8th grade boys basketball team will be playing in our home shootout at the GFAC building next to the high school. It will be the 7th annual "Eric Dietrich Memorial Shootout." Eric Dietrich was a GMS student and manager for the 7th grade boys team back in 2017. Sadly, Eric Dietrich's life was taken from him in the summer between his 7th and 8th grade school year. The following year the shootout was named in his memory. His parents now run a fundraiser during the shootout to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation in honor of Eric. Eric was a happy go lucky kid that loved life, loved telling jokes, and was loved by all. The fundraiser will include a bunch of baskets that will be raffled off. You can buy tickets and then drop your tickets in the bucket of the prize you hope to win. You can do this anytime between 9:00-1:00. At 1:00, the basket winners will be drawn. You do NOT have to be present to win. Baskets this year will have Apple AirPods, a new basketball and air pump, and much more with a wide variety. In the past, they've had baskets of nerf guns, gift cards, Vera Bradley bags, Vera Bradley blankets, and much more. Between our 8As and 8Bs, we will have a GMS team playing every hour between 9:00-3:00. So stop by the GFAC, cheer on our Leafs, and buy some cheap tickets and win big in support, and in honor Eric. We miss you Eric. Go Leafs!

Attention Hoops Fans: Our A squads headed to Rock Island to face the Washington Warriors yesterday. In 7th grade action the Warriors attack was pretty fierce as they won convincingly. In 8th grade action, our Leafs gave quite the battle for 3 quarters. Heading into the 4th quarter, we were down only 7 to an undefeated Warrior team. In the 4th, the Warriors gave their battle cry and sharpened their attack to pull away for the victory. Good luck to the 8th graders at tomorrow's Eric Dietrich Memorial Shootout and good luck to our A's Monday as we will be home vs Seton. Good luck Leafs!

The GMS library will host a Teen Read Cafe before school on Wednesday, December 11. We will make origami bookmarks. Space is limited, so you must stop in the library by Monday, December 9, to pick up a ticket to reserve your seat.

The Builders Club Clothing and Food Drive to help families in need continues through Dec 13th.  Drop off gently used clothing and non-perishable food items to your homeroom. Every little bit helps—thank you for your generosity!
