Congratulations to our November Student Athletes of the month, Kinley Smith and Helo Castro!  Your coaches and teachers recognize all your hard work and effort on the team and in class! Everyone at GMS is proud of you! Way to go!

The next GMS yearbook staff meeting will be Tuesday, December 3rd after school until 4:30pm.  Remember to let an advisor know if you can't attend.

Attention Hoops Fans: It was a busy night for our Leafs. The Bs hit the road to Northeast. 7Bs did their best to be the cardiac comeback kids. They were down ten but roared back, cutting the deficit to two before running out of time. Losing 27-29. The 8Bs lost at Northeast as well. The As traveled to the Glenview Gator Swamp and got chomped up by the Gators. But the special recognition, the MVP of the night...goes to Davin DeBoef. Have you heard the phrase, "records are meant to be broken?" Well, Brenna Dykstra, your record has been broken. Davin heard about your 52 Chik Fil A nugget domination this fall. But Davin went for it, and conquered it. He was able to put down 43 McDonalds chicken nuggets (with a splash of honey mustard). So sure, the casual illiterate math person might think "but 43 is less than 52?" But here at GMS, we understand math and science and we make real world applications! After some google searches and help from Mrs. Johnson, we found that 43 McDonalds nuggets is definitely more than 52 Chik Fil A nuggets. So let's do some real world math/science applications here kids. The mass of one of Chik Fil A nugget is 14 grams. So Brenna's 52 nuggies times 14 grams equals equals 728 grams in her belly. The mass of one McDonald's nugget is 17.5 grams. So Davin's 43 nuggies times 17.5 grams = 752.5 grams in his belly. 752.5 is greater than 728. Davin, congratulations, you are now the new GMS nuggie record holder. You had McDonald's workers, strangers in McDonalds, and your teammates cheering you on. You not only made Joey Chestnut proud, you made all of us at GMS proud...and your belly should be well prepared for your Thanksgiving feast. Our 7Bs will be home at 4:30 the Monday after break. Come out and cheer on our Leafs. See you then!

The Toy Drive is Coming to Town!

As you head out for Black Friday shopping next week, be sure to pick up a gift for the GMS Toy Drive. From December 2nd to December 6th, a donation bin will be set up by the west doors where you can drop off new, unwrapped gifts. Your generosity will help make this Christmas brighter for many children in our community. Let’s make it the best one yet!
