8th grade students have an opportunity to travel to Washington DC in June of 2025. An informational meeting will be held virtually for parents this Sunday, the 15th. Pick up a flyer at the middle school office window or in your History class.
On Friday, September 20, the GMS library will be hosting a Teen Read Cafe in the library before school. Because space is limited, you must pick up a reserve ticket in the library ahead of time to be part of our Freedom to Read celebration. See Mrs. Brucher or Mrs. Sager for more details.
The Geneseo Library Writing Club is meeting this Tuesday at the Geneseo Public Library from 3:30-4:30. Fourth-grade students and up are welcome!
The cross country team didn't let anything stand in their way at the Sterling Berserker meet last night, including the hay bales they had to hurdle to make it to the finish! In the girls race, top finishers were Charlize Wachtel, who finished 7th overall, as well as Annika Brumbaugh and Faith Kuster. In the boys race, Kyle Wirth finished in 3rd place and Kellan Courtight was right behind him in 4th place. The team next competes at the Pioneer Invite in Milan on Monday. Go Geneseo!
Last night at JFE, it was an epic showdown of undefeated softball teams, and boy, did it deliver! The clash was nothing short of a pitcher's duel, with Emma Schroeder dazzling the crowd by striking out 11 batters, while the Spartan pitcher was equally impressive, racking up 15 K’s! In a nail-biting twist, Ridgewood managed to sneak in two unearned runs during the 6th inning, clinching a 2-0 victory! This game not only marked GMS's first loss of the season but also their first loss at home in a whopping three years! Talk about a game for the history books! Coach Johnson is now thrilled to shake up those superstitious warm-ups—here’s to new beginnings! And after the intense competition, both teams came together to enjoy some delicious pizza and great company. Because let’s face it, sports are all about bringing people together. As we cheer on these fantastic teams, we wish them the best of luck in the postseason! And don’t miss GMS Softball as they take on Mossville tomorrow in East Peoria at 10am. Let’s keep the excitement rolling!
