GMS Softball played in the regional championship last night at Eastside Centre, and it was a nail biter!  The Wildcats got an early lead in the second inning.  GMS tied the game in the bottom of the fourth when Natalie Minnaert-Yocum scored on a sac fly by Addison Snell.  The Wildcats took the lead again in the top of the fifth.  In the sixth inning, GMS tied it up when Sophia Urquiza hit the ball to center and ended up running around all the bases and scored on errors.  Jaylee Brudos got on base, moved to second on a ball in the dirt, Snell moved her to third, and Penny Kline had a sac fly to center field to score Brudos who tagged up.  GMS held the Wildcats in the top of the 7th inning to become Regional Champions.  Snell struck out 14, and received the IESA Sportsmanship Award.  GMS’s next game is Saturday in Bloomington against Bloomington Evans.
