Attention 6th Graders and Middle School Staff: Are you ready for some football?! The NFL season kicks off this Thursday night with the Detroit Lions facing the Kansas City Chiefs. If you are interested in playing NFL Pick Em, be sure to grab a sheet and turn it in by the end of the day today. Remember, you are welcome to take a picture of your picks and rankings so you can remember them this weekend if you are watching games. Good luck!

Last night the Geneseo XC team competed at their Home Invite with 21 teams. The 7th grade girls placed 3rd in their division, with the 8th grade boys taking 2nd & the 8th grade girls winning their division! Medaling for the 7th graders were Charlize Wachtel (5th) and Annika Brumbaugh (10th - with only one shoe for most of the race!!). Medaling for the 8th graders were Evy DeBaene (6th), Kael McCord (7th), and Micah Nicke racing to a first place finish by over 20 seconds! Congratulations to all of the runners on a successful meet at home!
The 8th Grade football team traveled to Glenview last night. Glenview took control of the game early, but the boys fought back during the second and third quarter. The comeback fell short and Glenview ended up winning the game 34 to 14.
The GMS softball team won their first round of regionals 10-0. Addison Snell threw a no hitter, striking out 12 batters. Snell also hit a triple in the first inning. Jaylee Brudos and Khloe VonHolten each scored two runs, Payton VanZuiden was 2 for 2, and Sophia Urquiza, Natalie Minnaert, Penny Kline, and Addison Hadsall all collected one hit. Karoline Hassan threw two runners out on the bases. The next game is Saturday in East Peoria.
The Boys Golf team participated in the IESA Sectional Golf Meet on Wednesday at Quail Meadows Golf Course in East Peoria. Raidyn Allison, Taeton Chirchir, Evan Orwig, Gavin Davis, Owen Pollock, and Ethan Temperley represented GMS, finishing in 7th place as a team, while Gavin Davis recorded the low score for Geneseo and finished in 27th place. Congratulations on a fine season boys!
