5th grade students researched their favorite charity, wrote a persuasive essay, and delivered a speech to their classmates. Students then raised funds with the money raised going to the "winning charities." Students did a great job writing, public speaking, and advocating for a cause close to their hearts.

The Geneseo Police Department will be hosting its annual Christmas toy drive from December 1-9. Drop off new and unwrapped gifts (ages kindergarten to 12th grade) at the police department, Geneseo Middle School, or Reap & Sow Nutrition. To wrap up our Socktober sock drive, 5th grade welcomed a guest speaker from the Geneseo/Atkinson Food Pantry. We learned about all the items they provide to those in need in our community and were able to present them with over 2,000 pairs of socks due to our generous Millikin families. School nurses in all buildings will also receive a bag of socks for emergencies. It feels good to help others!

In honor of Veterans Day, Geneseo High School will host an assembly on November 11 at 10 a.m. for local vets and Aisle of Flag volunteers. Every year, the Geneseo Chamber Christmas Walk committee conducts a youth essay contest to see who gets the honor of riding in the parade with Santa Claus and flipping the switch on the town’s Christmas Tree! Mrs. Swanson's 3rd grade class earned a pizza party from the Millikin PTA for having the highest numbers of parents and guardians that joined PTA this school year.
