Six retiring teachers from across the Geneseo school district were honored at the Board of Education's meeting on Thursday evening:
Christine Bumann (GMS Geography) - 33 years of service in Illinois
Karna Frerichs (GMS Physical Education) - 34 years of service in Illinois
Michelle Ganson (GHS Instructional Coach) - 24 years of service in Illinois
Frances Hirschfelder* (GHS Science) - 22 years of service in Illinois (*not pictured)
Timothy McComber (GMS Science) - 5 years of service in Illinois + 26 years out of state (31 total)
Melanie Rice (GHS Social Worker) - 34 years of service in Illinois
"Tonight, we're celebrating over 178 total years of combined service between our six retiring teachers," said Superintendent Dr. Adam Brumbaugh. "That's a lot of knowledge, a lot of experience, and a lot of Teach-Learn-Care. We thank you all for your many years spent in the classroom and wish you nothing but the best in retirement."
