Congratulations Scholastic Bowl:

On Monday night, the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team made a strong showing at the Princeton Regional, beating Monmouth-Roseville by score of 520-240. In the semi-final round, they put up a tenacious fight against Princeton before losing the match in the very last rounds. Congratulations to both JV and Varsity on a season of smart answers and good sportsmanship! 

Attention Seniors:

Are you interested in giving a speech at graduation?  All graduating seniors are eligible to submit a speech for consideration.  Speeches will be chosen by a committee and those students will read their speeches at the graduation ceremony.  If your speech makes it to the final round, you will be notified by April 2nd.  Those students that make it to the final round will present their speeches to the committee on Friday, April 4th.          

 

Speeches must meet the following criteria:

200-400 words

typed format with your name on it

The speech does not have to be a particular subject matter but needs to be positive and represent the class of 2025

 

Speeches are due in the Front Office by Monday, March 31 at 3:00 p.m.

 

Foreign Language Club:

Our next meeting is on Thursday at 3:00 pm in room 3. We will be making a St. Patrick's Day craft! Hope to see you there!

 

Senior Open Campus Lunch:

The next Open Campus Lunch opportunity will be Friday, March 14th!

To qualify, you need to have a grade of C- or higher in all classes and have no unserved discipline or unpaid library fines. Eligibility will be determined today.  Eligibility notices will be distributed on the morning of Open Campus Lunch day, on Friday, March 14th.  Students who qualify will have additional time for lunch. If you receive a notice, please be sure to read it for your exact leaving and return times.

 

Yearbook Orders:

Have you ordered a copy of the yearbook yet? The lists outside Mrs. Anton and Mrs. Brewer's rooms have been updated and include how to order your copy. Please make sure you submit your order before the end of March. 

 

Polar Plunge:

This Friday, March 14th is the Polar Plunge. It is not too late to grab your friends and create a team! All payments and waivers are due Thursday, March 13th to Life Skills.  Take the plunge to raise money for Special Olympics Geneseo and Special Olympics Illinois. Minimum $5 entry fee per person. Sign up using the QR code on posters throughout the school. 

 

Military Cords:

If you are a senior that will be enlisting in the military after high school, please let Mrs. Harrington in the Front Office know by Friday, March 14.  Seniors that are enlisting in the military will be given a red, white, & blue honor cord to wear at graduation.

US Air Force Visit:

On Friday, March 14th, the US Air Force will be visiting Geneseo High School during 3rd Period.  If you are interested in meeting with the US Air Force, please visit the Counseling Office for more details and to sign up. You must sign up before to obtain a pass, and confirm the visit will be taking place. 

 

Prom Guest Forms:

Prom Guest forms for Junior and Senior students are now available outside the Assistant Principal's Office.  Please be sure it is complete prior to turning it in, forms not completed will not be approved by Administration.  The completed guest form must be received in the Assistant Principal's Office no later than Friday, April 11th without exception.

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Woodridge:

If you have 6th or 7th early release, Woodridge is looking for some students who would be interested in visiting with residents to help with activities and play Bingo during 6th & 7th period.  If you are interested, contact Jennifer at 309-944-9600.  To earn Silver Cord hours, be sure to have your Silver Cord timesheet filled out so the supervisor can sign when you volunteer.   

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Park District:

There is a list of upcoming volunteer opportunities at the Park District posted on the GHS Announcements bulletin board in the main hall.  Hours, position details, and contact information is included.  To earn Silver Cord hours, be sure to have your Silver Cord timesheet filled out so the supervisor can sign when you volunteer.
