National FFA Week:

National FFA Week is just around the corner! To celebrate, every day next week is Hat Day—bring $1 to your first-hour class to wear a hat. All proceeds will be donated to Farm Rescue, supporting farms in need. Monday is also Western day so giddy up and wear your western gear! 

Prom Planning Meeting:

There is a Prom Planning Meeting for the Junior Class on Tuesday, February 18th at 3:00 PM in Mrs. Degarmo's room, room 27. We hope to see you all there!

 

Polar Plunge:

The 2025 Polar Plunge will be March 14th during 1st hour. Grab your friends to make teams of 4, dress up or simply just take the plunge to raise money for Special Olympics Geneseo and Special Olympics Illinois. Minimum $5 entry fee per person. Sign up using the QR code on posters throughout the school. 

 

Foreign Language Club Members:

Mark your calendars! Our yearbook picture will be on Friday, February 28th at 3:00 pm in room 3. Please plan to be there! It will be quick!

 

Blood Drive:

Sign up to save a life, or better yet, save three.  Did you know that each blood donation saves three lives?  The annual blood drive will be held on Thursday, February 27, in the big gym.  Sign up now with any Student Council member or see the flyers hanging around the school.  Donors are asked to sign-up with the QR code and choose their own appointment time. You must be over 16 years old to donate, in addition, 16-year-olds are required to have a signed parent consent form from Impact Life.  For further information see Mrs. Laingen or Mrs. Brewer.

 

Prom Invitation Contest:

Calling all Juniors! Please enter the Prom Invitation Design Contest. Your design must include the City of Stars theme. Entries must be submitted to Mrs. Degarmo by Monday, February 17th at 3:00 PM. The contest winner will receive a free prom ticket and a gift card.

 

Dance Marathon:

Don't forget to raise your $25 for Dance Marathon! If you have not yet signed up, use the QR code on the bulletin board near the Athletic Office. If you already have an account, make sure you are getting that money raised! Remember - Dancing Saves Lives!

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Woodridge:

If you have 6th or 7th early release, Woodridge is looking for some students who would be interested in visiting with residents to help with activities and play Bingo during 6th & 7th period.  If you are interested, contact Jennifer at 309-944-9600.  To earn Silver Cord hours, be sure to have your Silver Cord timesheet filled out so the supervisor can sign when you volunteer.   

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Northside Math Night:

Northside is hosting a Family Math Night on February 25th and is looking for student volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer, information is posted on the GHS Announcements bulletin board in the main hall.  To earn Silver Cord hours, be sure to have your Silver Cord timesheet filled out so the supervisor can sign when you volunteer.   

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Park District:

There is a list of upcoming volunteer opportunities at the Park District posted on the GHS Announcements bulletin board in the main hall.  Hours, position details, and contact information is included.  To earn Silver Cord hours, be sure to have your Silver Cord timesheet filled out so the supervisor can sign when you volunteer.
