Congratulations Scholastic Bowl:

The Scholastic Bowl team hosted a quad on Monday night, and both squads had a successful event. The JV won two out of three matches, and the Varsity won all three, capping the night with a one question victory over LP. Great job to all who played!

CRUSH Cans:

Do you have a secret CRUSH?  Send someone a can of CRUSH pop anonymously for Valentine’s Day.  Buy a can of CRUSH pop from any Student Council member for $1, and your secret crush can return the can to find out who sent it for 50 cents.  Don’t miss out on the Valentine’s Day fun. Sales are now open through February 6.

 

Singing Telegrams:

Send a Singing Telegram to that special someone or send one to a friend.  Student Council members are now selling Singing Telegrams for $5 each.  The song and a flower will be delivered on Thursday, February 13 since February 14 is a half-day. Sales are open now through Feb. 6. Don’t miss out on this special Valentine’s tradition. 

Ping Pong Club:

Our next Ping Pong Club opportunity will be this Wednesday from 3:15-4:45.  We will have 3 tables set up in the lunch commons area for anyone interested in playing. We have a few paddles, but please bring your own if you have one.

 

Boys Basketball/Cheer/Maplette Autograph Night:

Join us this Friday night as the boys basketball team takes on the Alleman Pioneers! Come cheer loud and proud as the Leafs give their all on the court.  After the game, don’t miss Autograph Night with the basketball team, Maplettes, and Cheer team!  Let’s pack the gym and show Leaf pride. See you there!

 

Foreign Language Club:

Attention all Foreign Language Club members: Our next meeting is on Wednesday in room 3 at 3:00 pm. Please remember to bring your favorite game! See you then!

 

February Study Hall Release for Juniors and Seniors:

Study Hall release will start on Monday, February 3rd.  Students will receive ineligibility notices Wednesday, January 29 and Thursday, January 30.  In order to be eligible for Junior and Senior Study Hall release you must clear the following obligations: 

- Grades of C- or higher in all classes

- No 1st Semester 2024 failed classes

- No unpaid library fines

- No unserved discipline

- Students who have 6th period Study Hall and a 7th period class are not eligible for Study Hall release. 

 

Prom Planning Meeting:

Attention Juniors! Do you want to help plan Prom 2025? If so, please attend the Prom Planning Meeting after school today at 3:00 PM in Mrs. Degarmo's room, room 27. We hope to see you all there!

 

Soccer Slam:

There has been a BIG CHANGE in the Seth Ernst Memorial Soccer Slam!  GHS students may now register a Men's, Women's, or Coed Team AND the day of play will ONLY be Sunday, March 2nd!  Look for a flyer around the high school with the registration page QR code or go to: GHS DIVISION on the website.  Registration closes February 10th...For The Love of The Game!

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Woodridge:

If you have 6th or 7th early release, Woodridge is looking for some students who would be interested in visiting with residents to help with activities and play Bingo during 6th & 7th period.  If you are interested, contact Jennifer at 309-944-9600.  To earn Silver Cord hours, be sure to have your Silver Cord timesheet filled out so the supervisor can sign when you volunteer.   

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Northside Math Night:

Northside is hosting a Family Math Night on February 25th and is looking for student volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer, information is posted on the GHS Announcements bulletin board in the main hall.  To earn Silver Cord hours, be sure to have your Silver Cord timesheet filled out so the supervisor can sign when you volunteer.

There is a list of upcoming volunteer opportunities at the Park District posted on the GHS Announcements bulletin board in the main hall.  Hours, position details, and contact information is included.  To earn Silver Cord hours, be sure to have your Silver Cord timesheet filled out so the supervisor can sign when you volunteer.
