Iowa State University College Visit:

On Wednesday, October 30th, Iowa State University will be visiting Geneseo High School during 7th period.  If you are interested in meeting with Iowa State University, please visit the Counseling Office for more details and to sign up. You must sign up before to obtain a pass, and confirm the visit will be taking place. 

 

Foreign Language Club:

The Foreign Language Club meeting is cancelled for today. 

 

Congratulations FFA:

Congratulations to our very own FFA Chapter for their successes at the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo. The chapter was named a 3 Star chapter (the highest ranking you can earn as a chapter) and was recognized on stage. Our Marketing Plan Team advanced to the semi-finals round where they were ranked silver and were amongst the top 16 teams in the nation! Marketing Plan team members included: Ayden Kane, Austin Pearce and Joseph Venneberg. 

 

Congratulations Trap Team:

The Trap Team had the Geneseo Invitational where we hosted 11 Schools.

Geneseo Varsity won 1st place in the team competition and the Geneseo JV also won 1st place in the team competition.  Ayden Kane won first place in Varsity and had a perfect score 50 out of 50. 

 

November Study Hall Release for Juniors and Seniors:

Study Hall release will start on Friday, November 1st.  Students will receive ineligibility notices on Wednesday, October 30th and Thursday, October 31st.  In order to be eligible for Junior and Senior Study Hall release you must clear the following obligations: 

- Grades of D+ or higher in all classes

- No 2nd Semester 2024 failed classes

- No unpaid library fines

- No unserved discipline

- Students who have 6th period Study Hall and a 7th period class are not eligible for Study Hall release. 

 

Speech Team Practice:

GHS Speech Team practices begin after school today. If you don't already have one, please see Mrs. Brucher or Mrs. Buysse to get a rehearsal schedule. It is still possible for new students to join the Speech Team this week.

 

Environmental Club:

Save the Earth—it’s the only planet with chocolate! Join the Environment Club for a meet and greet in Mrs. Bivens' classroom, Room 30, for a short film and baked goods on Tuesday, October 29th.  Admission begins at 7:20 AM.

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – First Methodist Church:

It is that time of year for the Victorian Walk and Christmas meal at First Methodist Church.  They are looking for volunteers to serve food, be monitors, kitchen help, etc.  If you could spare a couple of hours that evening it lasts from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.  Even if it's just 1 or 2 hours, any help is appreciated.  The deadline to sign up to help is November 18th.  If you are interested in volunteering, contact Nancy DeFauw at 309-507-0997 or email her at defauwfarm5@gmail.com

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Park District:

If you are interested in volunteering at the Park District, there are volunteer opportunities and contact information listed on the announcements bulletin board in the main hall.  Silver Cord timesheets can be found on the GHS website or in the Front Office.
