GHS celebrates spirit week and homecoming Oct. 7-12

Geneseo High School is celebrating homecoming with a “Viva Las Vegas” theme and spirit week from Oct. 7-12.

Festivities include a pep rally on Thursday at GHS, parade (see below for this year’s route) and football games on Friday, and the homecoming dance on Saturday.

GHS SPIRIT WEEK DRESS DAYS

Oct. 7 – Jersey vs. Jersey Shore

Oct. 8 – Teacher-Student Swap Day (teachers dress as students/students dress as teachers)

Oct. 9 – Country vs. Country Club

Oct. 10 – Hawaiian Day

Oct. 11 – Spirit Day, Green/White, Team/Club Day

*Students must stay within the school dress code*

PEP RALLY

Thursday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Bob Reade Field

The pep rally will feature the pep band, cheerleaders, Maplettes and football team. Team dances and games will take place, and the student council will announce the homecoming court.

PARADE (SEE MAP BELOW)

Friday, October 11 at 3:30 p.m.

The homecoming parade will have a detour this year due to construction on State Street. The parade will begin at the city park at 3:30 and proceed north through downtown on State Street and across the railroad tracks. It will turn right on Exchange Street (in front of LaRoma Pizza) and proceed east, then take a left onto Russell Avenue and travel north to the back entrance of the high school’s south lot. The parade will end in Geneseo Middle School’s west lot.

FOOTBALL GAMES

Friday, October 11 at 5:30 & 7:00 p.m.

Geneseo’s Green Machine will take on Dolton (Thornridge) at Bob Reade Field with the freshman/sophomore game beginning at 5:30 p.m. and varsity kicking off at 7:00 p.m. The Geneseo Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will be recognized prior to the varsity game.

DANCE

Saturday, October 12 from 7:30-10:30 p.m.

The homecoming dance will be held in Geneseo High School’s big gym with coronation at 9:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 (Geneseo students only), while guest tickets need to be purchased in advance.
