Homecoming Court Election:
Attention students the Homecoming Court Election is now open. Check your school email for a ballot from Mrs. Brewer. The ballot will close at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Be sure to come out to the Pep Rally on Thursday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Bob Reade Field for a night of fun Homecoming games, dances and the announcement of the 2024 Homecoming Court.
Float Face Off:
Float Face Off will be this Wednesday at Richmond Hill from 4-9 PM in the large shelter next to the playground area. Each class needs as many students as possible to help ensure their float is completely finished by the end of the night. Please come help, regardless of your artistic or creative abilities…there are jobs for everyone! Pizza, chips, fruit, and cookies will be served throughout the night. Come join in on the fun and help your class build the best float!
Foreign Language Club:
Our next meeting is on Tuesday in room 3 at 3:00 p.m. We will be learning some salsa dancing moves before the Homecoming dance! Bring a friend and see you there!
Table Top Games Club:
There will be Table Top Games Club on Wednesday after school in Mrs. Davidson’s room, room 10.
Loras College Visit:
Loras College will be visiting Geneseo High School today during WIN. Please remember to sign up before the visit in the Counseling Office.
Lunch Detention:
Lunch Detention will be back in room 35 starting today.
Detention Information:
For students who have served lunch detentions, please remember that your name must be legible in order to receive credit. If you feel you may have not written your name in a way that it could be read, please stop by the Assistant Principal's office to verify that you have received credit for the lunch detentions you have served.
Students who have detentions that are past due their assigned dates, must complete serving them in order to be eligible for participation in events. This includes; athletic and activity events, all Homecoming events including float building, Pep Rally, the football game, and the Homecoming dance.
JV Scholastic Bowl:
Practice is today at 3:05 p.m., Room 45, Mrs. Young’s room. 3 things you need to do: (1) Check Google Classroom for streams and docs to complete; (2) Join Scholastic Bowl Remind (directions in Google Classroom); (3) Respond to communication and requests.
University of Dubuque and University of Iowa College Visit:
On Wednesday, October 9th, the University of Dubuque will be visiting Geneseo High School during WIN and the University of Iowa during 6th period. If you are interested in meeting with the University of Dubuque or University of Iowa, please visit the Counseling Office for more details and to sign up. You must sign up before to obtain a pass, and confirm the visit will be taking place.
Homecoming Dance Tickets:
Homecoming Dance tickets can be purchased before school for $10 each. All guest tickets must be purchased in advance, however, GHS student may buy tickets at the door. Advanced ticket sales will run thru Tuesday, October 8. Get your tickets early and don’t miss out on the Viva Las Vegas Homecoming!

Join in the fun and dress up for Homecoming Spirit Week.
Tomorrow is Teacher/Student Swap Day-teachers dress as students/students dress as teachers
Wednesday, October 9 – Country vs. Country Club
Thursday, October 10 – Hawaiian Day
Friday, October 11 – Spirit Day, Green/White, Team - Club Day
Students must stay within the school dress code.
Silver Cord Opportunity – Park District:
If you are interested in volunteering at the Park District, there are volunteer opportunities and contact information listed on the announcements bulletin board in the main hall. Silver Cord timesheets can be found on the GHS website or in the Front Office.
