For the third straight year, Geneseo High School will host a job fair and career expo for its students to explore a variety of careers. This year’s event will take place on Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Geneseo Foundation Activity Center.
Travis Mackey, who has organized all three job fairs, shared that the number of participating local businesses and organizations has risen each year.
“It’s been really encouraging to see how well this event has been received by workplaces in and around our community,” said Mackey, who also oversees the high school’s Career & Technical Education Center. “Last year we had about 70 different employers on hand, and that gives our students a wide range of different pathways to explore.”
At the job fair and career expo, GHS students (9th-12th grades) meet employers and learn about local jobs, as well as the education and skills needed to qualify for different positions. Several industries are represented, including agriculture, business, education, engineering, finance, healthcare and manufacturing.
“As students go through high school, they develop an understanding of their strengths and interests,” noted Mackey. “The job fair helps students see how those aspects may eventually lead them into the start of their professional career, whether that is after high school or college.”
Local businesses and organizations interested in participating should email Travis Mackey (tmackey@geneseoschools.org) by November 22 to learn more.
