Homecoming Court Nominations:

Attention Students: check your email for the Homecoming Court nomination ballot. Voting is open now and will close this Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. You will be nominating people from your class. The email will come from Mrs. Brewer.

 

College 101 Group:

Are you planning on attending college next year, but still have questions?  Check out the College 101 group!  This group is for seniors who want more information about all things college. Deciding where to apply, picking the right school, how to pay and more!  This group will meet in Room 35 every Wednesday, beginning September 25, during WIN for about 8 weeks.  If you are interested, please stop by the counseling office to sign up and get a pass by Friday, September 20!

 

Table Top Games Club:

Table Top Games Club will be meeting on Wednesday at 3:00 in room 10.

 

Girl Up Club:

There is a meeting for Girl Up Club in Room 2 at 7:35 AM on Wednesday morning for anyone who is interested in coming. 

 

Volleyball Fundraiser:

Support Our Volleyball Team and Help Fight Type 1 Diabetes!  Join us on Wednesday, September 18th for an exciting evening as our volleyball team takes on Orion. Freshman & Sophomore at 5 PM and Varsity at 6 PM. This event is not just about the game—it's also a chance to raise crucial funds for Breakthrough T1D which funds Type 1 diabetes research.  What’s Happening:  Bake Sale - Enjoy delicious treats and support the cause and 50/50 Raffle - Participate for a chance to win and contribute to research.  We need all of you to come out, cheer on the team, and support this important cause. Every purchase and donation helps fund vital research to improve the lives of those affected by Type 1 diabetes.  Let’s make this a memorable night for both the team and a worthy cause!

 

Boys and Girls Bowling:

Boys and Girls interested in the Bowling teams for the Winter Season should stop by the Commons on Friday, September 20th between 3:15 and 4:15 p.m.  Coaches will be available for sign-ups as well as questions.

 

Girls Tennis Today:

Stop by the tennis courts today and pick up your autographed poster for girls' tennis.  Stick around and cheer on the team as they play against Princeton.

 

Junior Float Building:

The Junior Class Homecoming float design meeting is Tuesday morning at 7:30 in Mrs. Degarmo's room, room 27.  Come with your ideas for the Homecoming Float using the theme Viva Las Vegas!  See you Tuesday morning!  

 

Senior Float Building:

Attention All Seniors: There will be a float design team meeting on Tuesday, September 17th in Mrs. Litton’s room (room 20) at 7:35 a.m. All are welcome. Have ideas ready that fit the Las Vegas theme so we can get our float design secured. See Mrs. Litton with any questions.

 

Yearbook Interest Meeting:

Please join us on Tuesday, September 17th in Room 26 for a quick informational meeting for anyone that is interested in working on yearbook pages, taking pictures at events, or both.  If you can’t make it please see Mrs. Brewer or Mrs. Anton for information. We will be done no later than 3:30.

 

Speech Team:

Do your friends tell you you talk too much? Maybe you should be part of the GHS Speech Team. Speech season won't officially start until the end of October, but there will be informational meetings held on Tuesday, September 17 from 7:40-7:55 a.m. or 3:10-3:30 p.m. in the library. Stop in either meeting to learn about high school Speech Team or see Mrs. Brucher or Mrs. Buysse if you have questions.

 

Western QC and SIUE Visit:

On Tuesday, September 17th, Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will be visiting Geneseo High School during 6th period and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will be visiting during 7th period. If you are interested in meeting with Western Illinois University-Quad Cities or Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, please visit the Counseling Office for more details and to sign up. You must sign up before to obtain a pass, and confirm the visit will be taking place. 

 

Greece Trip:

Have you ever wanted to go to Greece? Load up on a cruise ship and sail from beautiful island to island? Explore Athens and enjoy a cooking class using authentic Greek ingredients? Smash plates while yelling “OPA!”? You can make this dream a reality! All current high school students are invited to take this adventure in June of 2025.  There will be an informational meeting on Sunday, September 22 at 4:00 p.m. in Mrs. Litton’s Room 20 if you'd like to learn more. Those of you who have already enrolled in the trip last school year DO NOT have to attend this meeting. If you’re interested in the trip but can’t attend the meeting, please stop by to see Mrs. Litton or email her at alitton@geneseoschools.org. Hope to see you there!

 

Special Olympics Unified Partners:

We are looking for individuals to partner with our Special Olympics athletes for a Unified Bowling experience. If you have participated in the past or are new and want to join, please reach out to Megan VerStraete in the Life Skills 2 classroom. 

 

Homecoming Guest Forms:

Homecoming guest forms are available in the bin outside the Assistant Principals' office, students are allowed 1 approved guest. Please read through the form and be sure it is complete and all signatures are obtained prior to submitting the form.  Forms must be turned in no later than Friday, September 27th, there will not be any exceptions to this final date.

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – GMS Concessions:

GMS is in need of students to work their volleyball concessions.  This qualifies for Silver Cord hours, the student would just have to fill out the Silver Cord timesheet and have the concession supervisor sign off on it.  You would be working from 3:30 p.m. until approximately 5:30 p.m.  All dates are listed on the GHS Announcements Board in the main hall.  If you are interested, please contact Darin Pardoe at dpardoe@geneseoschools.org  If you have any questions, please stop by the GHS Front Office.      

 

Silver Cord Opportunity – Park District:

If you are interested in volunteering at the Park District, there are volunteer opportunities and contact information listed on the announcements bulletin board in the main hall.  Silver Cord timesheets can be found on the GHS website or in the Front Office.
